Recommended doses of Vitamins for Patients with Kidney Disease:

Vitamin H ( Biotin)
Vegetarian Source : Soy flour, cereals, yeast, milk, yogurt, cheese, peanuts
Non - Vegetarian Source : Liver, egg yolk
Requirement in Renal Failure: Not less than 300 mg/day


Vitamin B9( Folic Acid)
Vegetarian Source : Brewer's yeast, spinach, white beans, orange juice, cabbage, almonds, whole wheat bread
Non - Vegetarian Source : Beef liver, egg yolk
Requirement in Renal Failure: Not less than 800 to 1000 mg/day

Vitamin B3( Niacin)
Vegetarian Source : Milk and white bread
Non - Vegetarian Source : Beef, eggs
Requirement in Renal Failure: 20 mg/day


Vitamin B5 ( Pantothenic Acid)
Vegetarian Source : Yogurt, milk, corn, dates, peanuts
Non - Vegetarian Source : Beef liver, chicken
Requirement in Renal Failure: 10 mg/day

Vitamin B1 ( Thiamin)
Vegetarian Source : Brewer's yeast, unrefined cereal grains, sunflower seeds, peanuts, enriched and fortified grains, bakery products. white bread, milk, potato, orange juice.
Non - Vegetarian Source : Orange meats (liver, heart, kidney), lean cuts of pork
Requirement in Renal Failure: Not less than 1.5 mg/day should be supplemented.


Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
Vegetarian Source : Halibut, milk, yogurt, cheese
Non - Vegetarian Source : Beef liver, beef, egg.
Requirement in Renal Failure: Not less than 6 mg/day


Vitamin B2 ( Riboflavin)
Vegetarian Source : Dairy products, enriched and fortified grains, cereals and bakery products, bagels, spinach
Non - Vegetarian Source : Beef liver, eggs, pork, chicken
Requirement in Renal Failure: Not less than 1.7 mg/day

Vitamin B6 ( Pyrodoxine)
Vegetarian Source : Oatmeal, bananas, potatoes, sunflower seeds, brown rice, peanut butter, orange juice, cauliflower
Non - Vegetarian Source : Beef liver, chickem, pork chop
Requirement in Renal Failure: 10 mg/day

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)
Vegetarian Source : Vegetables and fruit : green and red peppers, spinach, tomatoes, potatoes, vegetable juice cocktail, strawberries, oranges, grapefruit
Non - Vegetarian Source : Meat, fish, poultry, eggs
Requirement in Renal Failure: Not more than 60 mg/day


Vitamin D ( Calciferol)
Vegetarian Source : Sunlight, salmon, fortified milk, sardines, butter
Non - Vegetarian Source : Chicken liver, egg yolk, calf, liver
Requirement in Renal Failure: Active form of vitamin D (I,25 dihydroxy cholecalciferol)
